The Artist behind Studio Orrin

Kia ora, ko Orrin Riley toku ingoa! I'm a Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) based artist with a serious love affair with colour, pattern, and all things quirky. I studied at AUT, graduating in 2013 with a Bachelor of Visual Arts majoring in painting and printmaking, before taking my creativity overseas. I spent three years in London crafting props, scenic art, and just about anything that needed a splash of imagination.

In 2021, I retrained as a secondary school art teacher, bringing the same passion for creativity and play into the classroom. After lots of encouragement from loved ones, Studio Orrin was born—my first venture into sharing art more widely, starting out with prints (for now!) of my original paintings.

Back home in Aotearoa, my work dives headfirst into the joyful side of abstraction. Inspired by food, rhythm, and repetition, I use both oil and acrylic paint  to create vibrant, playful worlds full of unexpected patterns and colourful chaos.
